The characters, dinosaurs and non-Lego environments all looks great. To me, this does feel like a bit of a cop out to extend the lifespan and replay value of the game and I did find it a little frustrating you're not able to complete these objectives on the first run, but it is what it is I suppose. Finished doesn't mean complete, and in fact to complete the game I will need to spend hours going back into free roam mode, once I have unlocked certain characters, to complete all tasks and collect all the gold bricks. It does seem to have a tendency to pan around when I don't actually want it to and in some of the more confined areas can zoom in unnecessarily close, making it awkward to see what's going on.Īs I write this review I have finished the Jurassic Park story and I'm currently half way through The Lost World story. The camera on the whole is good, not excellent, but good. There were a couple of instances of clipping and characters getting stuck on objects, swapping to another character and smashing these objects seemed to fix this. Characters and dinosaurs are both responsive to controls and playing as a dinosaur is great addition. Each character has their own unique ability, ensuring you put a little thought into puzzles (I mean a little) and don't speed through each level as the same character. Gameplay is smooth, fluid and well animated I've yet to experience any drop in frame rate. I did pick up that some scenes had been recreated with added comic effect I think this was a move to make these scenes suitable for younger audiences. Instantly, it was easy to recognise each character (providing you know who they are in the first place) and the scenes that had been lovingly recreated in Lego form. I decided to play the game in chronological order, beginning with Jurassic Park one of my favourite films of all time. This is the first Lego game I've actually owned, and having played snippets of Lego Marvel Super Heroes, and quite enjoying it, I thought I'd give Lego Jurassic World a go. I was looking for a new game to keep me entertained until Batman Arkham Knight is released later this month. Thankfully, save for an incomprehensible menu system, the game was a pleasure to play. (Several of these were iOS-only upon their debut, but most are now available for Android as well.) Like those, Lego Jurassic World is priced at $4.99 (£3.99 or AU$6.49).Īlthough the gameplay more or less mirrors that of the console versions, iPhone 6s owners can take advantage of 3D Touch for certain actions - though in my brief testing, it wasn't immediately obvious what those actions were. The app joins a handful of other Lego titles that have made their way from game consoles to mobile devices, including Lego Lord of the Rings, Lego Marvel Superheroes and The Lego Movie Videogame. There's also a Dino Customizer that lets you mix-and-match dinosaur colors, body parts and abilities. The over-arching goal: collect that controversial amber containing dinosaur DNA. The game spans 20 levels, recreating scenes from the four movies and letting you play as various characters from each.
